Festival PATOSoffIRANJE organized for the first time a workshop on contemporary theater criticism. The workshop, titled THINC: Theatre in New Context, led by Richard Pettifer, a theater artist and critic who lives and works in Berlin. Pettifer ’s experience includes writing critiques and conducting workshops and various forums at cultural scenes in the UK, Italy, Ukraine and Croatia. THINC workshop included several hours of interactive sessions where the participants worked on their views of plays and performances that were performed in the festival's program. The aim of launching THINC workshop within Festival is to promote alarmingly neglected and weak critique work of contemporary performing arts, both in terms of capacity / competence and critic practices. Festival wants to support the development of alternative practices such as on-line participatory criticism, activist work and other innovative and informal forms of art criticism. The festival's framework provides plenty of material for practice and learning, as it contains a large number of programs in the fields of research and experiment, new art forms and formats and culturally diverse work. The intention is to begin a long-term program that will continuously strengthen capacities for modern and engaged art criticism in Serbia and in a broader sense.
